Funeral Directors

Communication and Meetings

I like to hold the first meeting with the person arranging a funeral in their home or another venue that they are happy to use.

My service is confidential. I keep meetings and conversations confidential to the customer and only share information with others at the request of a customer.

I keep in close contact with the person arranging the funeral and any other people that they want me to speak to during the preparation for the funeral.

Planning and conducting Funerals

I am flexible about my involvement in planning and conducting a funeral. I can do as much or as little as a family would like me to. I can direct or lead a family during the planning of a funeral if that’s, but am equally happy to be led by a family and give information and guidance about planning a funeral if that is needed.

I am happy to help find suitable music, hymns, poems, readings, blessings and prayers for a funeral and keep a library of resources to share with customers.

Writing scripts and Eulogies

I can write a complete Eulogy, part of one, or edit one that has been written by other people. This includes speaking to other people who are writing some of the Eulogy or who want to share their knowledge of the person for me to write the Eulogy on their behalf.

I provide a draft of the words for the whole funeral before the day for the next of kin to amend and approve.

Support and Follow up

After the funeral I supply a presentation copy of the script that is spoken during the funeral if the customer wants to have one.

I make a follow up phone call approximately a week – 10 days after the funeral to offer support after the Funeral.

I keep details of bereavement support services to share with customers as part of my follow up if they want this information.

The charge is £150 per funeral – and travel costs for work outside the Taunton area.

Professional background

I am a member of the Natural Death Centre and the Greenfuse Guild of Celebrants I follow the code of conduct set by these associations and benefit greatly from the support available through being part of them.
